Former FTX Executive Ryan Salame Sentenced to 7.5 Years (90 Months) in Prison After Guilty Plea
May 28, 2024, 04:06 PM
Former FTX executive Ryan Salame has been sentenced to seven and a half years (90 months) in prison. Salame, who previously admitted to participating in a plan to make illegal political donations, deceive the Federal Election Commission, and run an unlicensed money transfer business, received a sentence that exceeded the prosecutors' recommendation of five to seven years. This makes Salame the first of Sam Bankman-Fried’s close associates and the first senior deputy in his inner circle to be sentenced. Salame's lawyers had argued for a prison term not exceeding 18 months. Salame entered a guilty plea.
