Former Clark County Democrat Robert Telles Sentenced to Life With Parole After 28 Years for Killing Reporter
Oct 16, 2024, 06:29 PM
Former Clark County Public Administrator Robert Telles, a Democrat, was sentenced on Wednesday to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 28 years for the murder of Las Vegas Review-Journal investigative reporter Jeff German. Telles, 47, was found guilty in August of fatally stabbing German, 69, outside the journalist's home in September 2022 after German wrote articles critical of Telles' conduct in office, including exposing an intimate relationship with a female coworker and turmoil within his office. District Judge Michelle Leavitt added eight years to the minimum 20-year sentence recommended by the jury due to sentencing enhancements for use of a deadly weapon and the victim's age as a senior. German was a veteran journalist known for his investigative reporting on political corruption and organized crime.
