Panamanian Court Acquits 28 in Panama Papers and Operation Car Wash Case
Jun 29, 2024, 06:47 AM
A Panamanian court has acquitted 28 individuals charged with money laundering in connection with the Panama Papers scandal. The defendants were linked to the now-defunct law firm Mossack Fonseca, which was at the center of the international tax evasion scandal. The court's decision was based on insufficient evidence. The Panama Papers, leaked in 2016, exposed how some of the world's wealthiest and most influential people concealed their financial activities. The trial was also tied to Operation Car Wash.
