JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna Arrested for Alleged Sexual Abuse, CID to Investigate ₹5 Crore Extortion
Jun 23, 2024, 05:53 AM
JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 27-year-old party worker at his farmhouse in Ghannikada on June 16. The accuser, who initially approached Revanna for a job, filed a complaint alleging sexual assault, leading to an FIR against Revanna under IPC Sections 377, 342, 506, and 34. In a counter-complaint, Revanna and his aide, Shivakumar, accused the complainant and his brother-in-law of attempting to extort ₹5 crore by threatening to file false sexual assault charges. The Karnataka government has transferred the case to the CID for further investigation. Suraj Revanna is the son of HD Revanna and the brother of Prajwal Revanna, who is also facing sexual assault allegations. The investigation is ongoing, and Revanna has been taken into police custody for further questioning. The case was initially registered at the Hassan police station and Holenasipur Rural PS. Revanna underwent a medical test, and he claims the allegations are part of a political conspiracy.
