Netanyahu Rejects Daily Daylight 'Tactical Pause' in Rafah Aid Route
Jun 16, 2024, 11:24 AM
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a proposed daily 'tactical pause' in military operations in southern Gaza, which was intended to facilitate aid deliveries during daylight hours. The Israeli military announced the pause from the Karem Abu Salem crossing to the European Hospital, north of Rafah, but Netanyahu deemed it unacceptable. The UN welcomed the decision but called for more concrete measures to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Despite the initial announcement on Sunday morning, the IDF intensified its offensive in Rafah while maintaining a daily 11-hour humanitarian corridor, according to the Prime Minister's Office. Confusion also arose involving the Israeli Defense Minister.
