Cook Dies Painfully After Botched Brain Surgery at Kenyatta National Hospital
Jun 16, 2024, 07:55 AM
In 2018, Samuel Kimani Wachira, a cook, was mistakenly subjected to brain surgery at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in Nairobi, Kenya. The surgery, which took place on February 19, was intended for another patient. Surgeons realized the error only after failing to locate a blood clot in Kimani's brain. This botched operation led to three years of suffering for Kimani, who experienced seizures and convulsion disorders as a result. He ultimately died quietly and painfully three years later due to complications from the surgery. A neurosurgeon, speaking on condition of anonymity, linked the interference to Kimani's brain during the surgery to the seizures and status epilepticus he experienced.
