Delhi LG OKs ED Prosecution of Kejriwal in Liquor Scam; AAP Denies, Demands Proof
Dec 21, 2024, 07:49 AM
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has granted sanction to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to prosecute AAP chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi excise policy case, according to sources from the LG's office. The ED had sought permission for prosecution against Kejriwal on December 5, alleging a "huge level of corruption" in the framing of the excise policy. This development comes ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, which may take place in February. AAP leaders, including MP Sanjay Singh, Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Delhi CM Atishi, have denied the reports, calling them baseless and demanding that the ED make the sanction letter public. The BJP has welcomed the move, with leaders like Manoj Tiwari and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva labeling Kejriwal as the "kingpin" of the liquor scam.
