House Democrats and Schumer Investigate Trump's Alleged $1 Billion Quid Pro Quo with Nine Oil Executives
May 14, 2024, 02:30 PM
House Democrats have launched an investigation into former President Donald Trump's meeting with oil executives at Mar-a-Lago. During the dinner, Trump allegedly asked the executives for a $1 billion contribution to his 2024 reelection campaign. In return, he promised to dismantle President Biden's environmental policies. Jamie Raskin, a ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, has sent letters to nine oil company CEOs seeking information about any quid pro quo financial agreements related to U.S. energy policy that may have been proposed at the event. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has also commented on the situation.
