Italian Authorities Seize Chinese Military Drones at Gioia Tauro Port
Jul 2, 2024, 09:59 AM
Italian authorities have seized Chinese military drones intercepted at the Gioia Tauro port in southern Italy. The drones, which were labelled as parts for wind turbines, were impounded on June 18 after being unloaded from the MSC Arina cargo vessel sailing from China. The shipment included three containers of Wing Loong UCAV drones and two control stations, destined for Libyan warlord Khalifa Haftar, in violation of a UN arms embargo on Libya. The interception was made following a tip-off from the US.
