26-Year-Old American Activist Aysenur Ezgil Killed by Israeli Army in Beita
Sep 6, 2024, 12:01 PM
An American human rights activist, Aysenur Ezgil, also known as Aisha Izgy, was killed by Israeli army fire during a protest against settlement expansion in the town of Beita, south of Nablus. The incident occurred during a weekly anti-settlement march. Ezgil, a 26-year-old US citizen of Turkish origin, was shot in the head by Israeli forces. She had arrived in Palestine on Tuesday and was affiliated with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM). Her death marks the third killing of an ISM activist by Israeli soldiers since the deaths of Rachel Corrie and Tom Hurndall in Gaza in 2003 and 2004. Ezgil's body is currently at Rafidia Hospital in Nablus.
