U.S. Port Strike Ends as Dockworkers Reach Tentative 62% Wage Deal, Return to Work Friday
Oct 3, 2024, 10:47 PM
The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) have reached a tentative agreement to end the historic U.S. port strike. The agreement includes a 62% wage increase over six years. The dockworkers union has agreed to suspend the strike and extend their current contract until January 15, 2025, allowing time for further negotiations on remaining issues. This resolution affects ports along the East and Gulf coasts, including the Port of Baltimore. Union members are expected to return to work on Friday.
