Venezuelan Opposition Leader Edmundo González Urrutia Flees to Spain After Arrest Order
Sep 8, 2024, 03:59 AM
Edmundo González Urrutia, the former opposition presidential candidate in Venezuela, has fled the country and sought political asylum in Spain. This move comes after the Venezuelan government, led by President Nicolás Maduro, ordered his arrest. González, who ran against Maduro in the July elections, left Venezuela with the assistance of the Spanish government, which provided diplomatic and material support for his journey. Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez confirmed González's departure on Instagram.
