Shiv Sena's Ravindra Waikar Wins by 48 Votes; Kin Booked for Allegedly Unlocking EVM with Phone
Jun 16, 2024, 10:16 AM
Ravindra Waikar, a member of Shiv Sena, won the Mumbai North West seat by 48 votes in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Reports have surfaced that a family member of Waikar allegedly used a mobile phone to unlock an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) at his voting center. The brother-in-law of Waikar, who is associated with the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, has been booked for this alleged act of sabotage. Law enforcement authorities have recorded statements from Waikar's kin and an Election Commission (EC) official whose mobile phone was reportedly used in the incident. The Election Commission's role is also under scrutiny as investigations continue, and an EC officer has been booked.
