Officer Blake Acquitted of Chris Kaba's Murder After Shooting Through Windscreen
Oct 21, 2024, 03:27 PM
Metropolitan Police firearms officer Martyn Blake, 40, has been found not guilty of the murder of Chris Kaba, 24, who was fatally shot through the car windscreen during a police 'hard stop' in Streatham, south-east London, on September 5, 2022. The verdict was delivered at the Old Bailey after a jury of nine men and three women deliberated for around four hours. Blake, previously known as NX121, had been charged with murder in the fatal shooting. The Crown Prosecution Service defended its decision to prosecute Blake, stating it was "right that the case was put before the jury for them to scrutinise and to decide."
