Former Abercrombie CEO Mike Jeffries, Partner, and Associate Arrested on Sex Trafficking Charges
Oct 22, 2024, 01:24 PM
Former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries, 80, and his partner Matthew Smith were arrested on Tuesday in Florida on sex trafficking and interstate prostitution charges brought by federal prosecutors in New York. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York alleges that Jeffries and Smith, along with another associate, Jim Jacobson, ran a sex trafficking operation that exploited young men who hoped to become models for the company. The arrests come nearly a year after a civil lawsuit was filed against Jeffries in the Southern District of New York, following a BBC investigation that brought these allegations to light. The FBI and federal prosecutors are conducting the investigation, which involves claims that the men sexually exploited and abused young men at parties hosted in the United States and around the world.
