New Mexico Judge Drops Mark Zuckerberg from Child Safety Lawsuit Against Meta
May 31, 2024, 04:19 PM
A New Mexico judge on Thursday granted Mark Zuckerberg's request to be dropped from a child safety lawsuit alleging that his company, Meta, failed to protect young users from exposure to child sexual abuse material. The lawsuit, filed by the New Mexico attorney general, claims that Meta's platforms, Instagram and Facebook, connect sex predators with children. Internal documents uncovered by prosecutors estimate that about 100,000 children are subjected to sexual harassment daily on these platforms. Despite Zuckerberg's removal from the case, the lawsuit against Meta will proceed.
