Over 200 Jewish Activists Arrested After Chaining Themselves to NYSE Doors in Protest of U.S. Aid to Israel
Oct 14, 2024, 06:53 PM
Hundreds of protesters, including members of Jewish Voice for Peace and anti-Zionist Jewish activists, staged a demonstration outside the New York Stock Exchange on October 14, demanding an end to U.S. military aid to Israel amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Lebanon. The protesters, numbering over 500 according to some reports, chained themselves to the doors of the Exchange ahead of the opening bell, displaying banners with messages such as "Fund healthcare, housing, FEMA, not genocide" and "Gaza bombed, Wall Street booms." The New York Police Department arrested more than 200 protesters as they blocked the entrance and disrupted trading operations. The demonstrators criticized U.S. corporations, including defense contractors like Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, for profiting from the conflict, and called for an arms embargo on Israel.
