Eight Tajikistan Nationals with ISIS Ties Arrested After Crossing Southern Border
Jun 12, 2024, 11:10 AM
In a coordinated operation involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, eight Tajikistan nationals suspected of having ties to ISIS-K were arrested in New York, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. The individuals had entered the United States illegally via the southern border in 2023 and had received full vetting. These arrests were part of a multi-city sting operation, and the suspects were caught discussing bombs on wiretap. At least one of the men took advantage of the CBP One app to book appointments to claim asylum. The arrests highlight ongoing concerns about national security vulnerabilities at the U.S. southern border.
