VisitAsif William Rahman, 34, Pleads Guilty to Leaking Israeli Strike Plans on Iran After FBI Arrest
Jan 17, 2025, 09:17 PM
Asif William Rahman, a 34-year-old former CIA analyst, has pleaded guilty to leaking classified documents detailing Israel's military preparations for a retaliatory strike against Iran. Rahman, who worked at the CIA since 2016 and was stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia, admitted to accessing, printing, and sharing two top-secret documents with unauthorized individuals. The documents, which surfaced on the Telegram messaging app in October 2024, led to a delay in Israel's planned attack on Iran. Rahman was arrested by the FBI and faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for each of the two counts of willful retention and transmission of classified information related to national defense. His sentencing is scheduled for May 15, 2025.
