Dec 30, 2024, 01:35 PM
Former Armenian Defense Minister Major General Arshak Karapetyan was detained in Moscow on December 29, at the request of Armenian authorities. Karapetyan, who served as Armenia's defense minister between August and November 2021, was released on bail following his detention. He is wanted in Armenia on charges including illegal participation in business activities, abuse of power, and abuse of official position. Karapetyan was previously an advisor to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from 2018 to 2021 and was dismissed from his ministerial position amid tensions following an Azerbaijani incursion into Armenian territory in November 2021.
