Former S.F. Building Inspector Sentenced in Federal Corruption Scandal for Accepting $15,000 in Bribes
Jun 28, 2024, 08:20 PM
Cyril Yu, a former plan checker for the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection, was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison for accepting $15,000 in bribes from a local developer. Yu expedited building plans in exchange for the bribes, which were given in envelopes containing between $1,200 and $1,700 each. The bribes were taken between 2018 and shortly before Yu's resignation in 2021. Yu also cooperated with federal investigators by wearing a wire during the probe. The case is part of San Francisco's long-running federal corruption scandal.
