Four Tops Singer Alexander Morris Sues Detroit-Area Ascension Hospital for Racial Discrimination and False Imprisonment
Jun 11, 2024, 04:32 PM
Alexander Morris, the lead singer of the Motown group The Four Tops, has filed a federal lawsuit against a Detroit-area Ascension hospital in Michigan federal court on Monday, alleging racial discrimination and false imprisonment. Morris claims that when he visited the emergency room for chest pain and trouble breathing, hospital staff assumed he was mentally ill after he identified himself as a member of the famous group. According to the lawsuit, a white security guard told Morris to 'sit his Black ass down,' and he was subsequently placed in a straitjacket. Morris asserts that he was restrained against his will and subjected to a psychiatric evaluation, despite experiencing cardiac distress. The lawsuit also mentions allegations of racism and profiling by the emergency room staff.
