Fire at New Orleans Airbnb Linked to Bourbon Street Terror Attack, 15 Dead
Jan 1, 2025, 10:36 PM
Authorities are investigating a fire at an Airbnb in New Orleans linked to Shamsud Din Jabbar, the suspect in the deadly New Year's Day attack on Bourbon Street. Jabbar, who drove a truck into a crowd, killing 15 and injuring over 30, was reportedly renting the property at 1329 Mandeville Street. The fire broke out early Wednesday morning, prompting dozens of evacuations in the St. Roch area. Bomb-making materials and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) tied to the attack were discovered at the site, and officials suspect the location was used to manufacture explosives. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill confirmed the connection between the Airbnb and the attack. Bomb squad detectives were involved in the investigation. Jabbar, who was killed in a shootout with police, was found to have an ISIS flag in his vehicle, and authorities believe he may not have acted alone. The FBI is leading the investigation, treating the incident as an act of terrorism.
