Delta Boeing 757-300 Aborts Takeoff in Snowy Atlanta, Four Injured in Emergency Slide Evacuation
Jan 10, 2025, 05:56 PM
A Delta Air Lines flight, designated as Flight 2668 and bound for Minneapolis-St. Paul from Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, had to abort its takeoff on Friday morning due to an engine issue. The incident involved a Boeing 757-300 carrying 201 passengers, two pilots, and five flight attendants. Following the aborted takeoff, passengers were evacuated using emergency slides onto the tarmac on an unusual snowy morning. Video footage showed the slides deployed as passengers, including some who reported that the engine caught fire, were evacuated. Four passengers reported minor injuries, with one being transported to a hospital and the remaining three treated on the scene. The evacuees were subsequently driven back to the terminal. The event occurred amidst a winter storm that has led to the cancellation of over 400 flights at Atlanta's airport and more than 2,500 flights nationwide, though it remains unclear if the weather contributed to the engine problem. Delta Air Lines emphasized the safety of its passengers and crew, apologizing for the incident and working to rebook affected customers.
