An explosion caused by a propane-butane cylinder at the U Kojota restaurant in Most, a city in the northwest of the Czech Republic, resulted in the deaths of six people and injuries to eight others on Saturday evening. The incident occurred late on Saturday evening, and the fire that ensued was reported to have spread rapidly, engulfing the restaurant. Emergency services managed to evacuate approximately 30 people from the restaurant and nearby buildings. The fire was brought under control after midnight with the efforts of over 60 firefighters. The cause of the explosion is believed to be an overturned gas heater, as stated by the fire brigade and Interior Minister Vit Rakusan.
