Russia Launches Iranian Satellites Kowsar and Hodhod into Orbit, Marking Milestone in Bilateral Cooperation
Nov 5, 2024, 01:49 AM
Russia successfully launched a Soyuz rocket carrying two Iranian satellites, Kowsar and Hodhod, into orbit on November 5, 2024. The launch took place from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in eastern Russia. According to Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali, the mission, which included a total of 55 small satellites, highlights the deepening scientific and technological cooperation between the US-sanctioned nations, Russia and Iran. Kowsar is a high-resolution imaging satellite, while Hodhod is Iran's first communications satellite. This event marks a significant milestone for Iran's private sector in the space industry, as confirmed by Russia's Roscosmos space agency.
