Dubai to Shift Main Airport to $35B Al Maktoum in 10 Years, 400 Gates, 5 Runways
Apr 28, 2024, 09:17 AM
Dubai is undertaking a significant expansion of its aviation infrastructure with the construction of a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport. This development is part of a broader $35 billion project to relocate Dubai's main international airport from its current location at DXB to Al Maktoum International. The new facility, set to be five times larger than DXB, will feature five parallel runways, 400 aircraft gates, and an annual cargo capacity of 12 million metric tons. This move, expected to be completed within 10 years, is aimed at boosting Dubai's position as a global aviation hub, under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Makhtoum. Additionally, ENOC has constructed a pipeline to the new airport to support the anticipated increase in jet fuel demand.
