Russia Accused of Using Banned Chemical Weapons and Tear Gas in Ukraine Amid OPCW Allegations
Nov 25, 2024, 07:34 PM
Russia has been accused of employing banned chemical weapons in Ukraine, with the United States expressing strong condemnation. Reports indicate that the use of tear gas by Russian forces will be a key topic at the annual meeting of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). Russia has submitted three dozen notes to the OPCW, alleging systematic use of toxic chemicals by Ukraine against Russian troops and civilians. Kirill Lysogorsky, head of the Russian delegation to the OPCW, has stated that Ukraine continues to use toxic chemicals in the conflict zone. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials and media have reported systematic torture of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian forces, allegedly carried out by trained individuals.
