A nurse in her 50s was left with life-changing injuries after being stabbed at Royal Oldham Hospital's Accident and Emergency department in Greater Manchester. The attack occurred around 11:30pm on Saturday night, and the assailant used a sharp instrument that was not a knife. A 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody. Greater Manchester Police have stated that they are not seeking any other suspects in connection with the incident and there is no wider threat to the public. The police have increased their presence in the area to conduct inquiries and provide reassurance to the community.
