North America Sees Record 124°F Heat Wave, Breaking Multiple Records

North America is currently experiencing an unprecedented heat wave, with Mexico recording some of the highest temperatures ever seen. Gallinas, Mexico, reached a historic high of 51.1°C (124°F), marking the hottest day in May in North American history. Other regions in Mexico also saw extreme temperatures, with Paso de Molina and El Pujal recording 50.5°C and 50.0°C, respectively. In the United States, La Puerta, Texas, near the Rio Grande Valley, hit 116°F, potentially setting a new record for May. The heat wave has brutalized hundreds of temperature records across more than a dozen states, including Mexico City, with some areas not seeing temperatures drop below the low 80s even at night.
