US and Philippines Agree on Afghan Refugee Transit Deal

The United States and the Philippines have reached an agreement to allow a limited number of Afghan nationals to transit through the Philippines for the completion of their special immigrant visa processing. This deal provides a pathway for Afghan refugees to be temporarily relocated to the Philippines before resettling in the United States. The arrangement includes the establishment of an immigrant visa processing center in the Philippines, as confirmed by both Manila and Washington.
