NHTSA Warns Owners of 84,000 Older Nissan Vehicles to Stop Driving Due to Exploding Takata Air Bags Recall
May 29, 2024, 03:30 PM
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued an urgent warning for owners of nearly 84,000 older Nissan vehicles to stop driving them immediately due to the risk of exploding Takata air bag inflators. The affected models include certain 2002 to 2006 Nissan Sentra, 2002 to 2004 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2002 to 2003 Infiniti QX4 vehicles. The recall comes after reports of one fatality and 58 injuries caused by the defective air bags, which can explode in a crash and hurl dangerous metal fragments. Nissan has emphasized the critical nature of this recall and urges owners to have their vehicles repaired as soon as possible. The warning also applies to 48,000 vehicles in Canada with recalled, unrepaired air bags.
