Nov 11, 2024, 08:41 PM
Harriet Tubman has been posthumously promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the Maryland Army National Guard. The promotion, announced during a Veterans Day ceremony, was made by Maryland Governor Wes Moore and the Maryland National Guard to honor Tubman's military service. Tubman, a revered abolitionist and the first woman to oversee an American military action during a time of war, received this honor following legislation passed by the General Assembly allowing posthumous promotions. Tubman is now a one-star general.
