8-Foot Bronze Statue of Johnny Cash Unveiled at U.S. Capitol by Arkansas
Sep 24, 2024, 02:58 PM
A statue of the late singer-songwriter Johnny Cash was unveiled at the U.S. Capitol on September 24, 2024. The 8-foot bronze statue, contributed by the state of Arkansas, depicts Cash wielding a guitar and a Bible. It is part of the National Statuary Hall Collection and replaces statues of Uriah Rose and James Clarke. The unveiling ceremony, held in Emancipation Hall at 11 a.m. Eastern, was attended by state and federal officials from Arkansas, congressional leaders, and members of the Cash family, including his sister Joanne Cash. This marks the first time a statue of a professional musician has been dedicated at the Capitol.
