Russian Forces Launch Major Counteroffensive in Kursk on October 10, Capture 14.7 Square Miles
Oct 11, 2024, 10:59 AM
Russian forces have launched a significant counteroffensive in the Kursk region, resulting in substantial territorial gains and heavy losses for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The offensive, which began on October 10, has seen Russian troops regain control over five villages in the Sudzha district, with the Ukrainian garrison in Lyubimovka-Tolsty Lug facing tactical encirclement. The Ukrainian forces, caught in a brutal ambush, have lost valuable equipment, including CV90, Marder, M-2, and Stryker vehicles. Reports indicate that Russian troops have captured up to 14.7 square miles of territory in one day, with the advance continuing in multiple areas, including the village of Vesyoloye in the Glushkovsky District. Additionally, Russian forces have captured Liubimovka and Zeleniy Shlakh, ending a three-week battle for Liubimovka and closing Olgovka's pocket. The offensive has also seen advances towards Novo Put and Sudzhansk.
