Official MLB MVP award announcement
Braves' MVP Ronald Acuña Jr. to Miss 2024 Season Due to Left Knee ACL Tear
May 27, 2024, 02:24 AM
Ronald Acuña Jr., the Atlanta Braves' outfielder and reigning National League MVP, has suffered a complete tear of the ACL in his left knee. The injury occurred during a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. An MRI today confirmed the tear, and Acuña is set to undergo surgery. As a result, he will miss the remainder of the 2024 season. This is a significant blow to the Braves, as announced by the team, as Acuña was a key player, having won the 2023 MVP with 41 home runs and 73 stolen bases. Notably, Acuña had previously undergone surgery for a complete tear of the right ACL in July 2021, which affected his performance in the 2022 season.
