McKesson and AmerisourceBergen to Pay $260M for Role in Baltimore's Opioid Crisis, Jury Rules Tuesday
Nov 12, 2024, 07:17 PM
A jury has found two drug distributors, McKesson and AmerisourceBergen, liable for contributing to Baltimore’s opioid crisis. The companies have been ordered to pay more than $260 million in damages. Baltimore alleged that the drug distributors fueled the city’s opioid epidemic by sending hundreds of millions of addictive painkillers to the area with little regard for the havoc they could wreak. This ruling is part of a broader national effort to hold companies accountable for their roles in the opioid crisis. The jury's decision was made on Tuesday.
