India Tests Long-Range Hypersonic Missile on Nov 16, 2024
Nov 17, 2024, 03:39 AM
India has successfully conducted the first flight trial of its long-range hypersonic missile on November 16, 2024, from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha. The missile, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is capable of carrying various payloads and has a range greater than 1,500 kilometers. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described this achievement as a historic moment, positioning India among a select group of nations with advanced military technology. The missile's speed is reported to reach up to Mach 9, making it exceptionally difficult to intercept due to its hypersonic capabilities. This test marks a significant milestone in India's defense capabilities, enhancing its strategic reach and deterrence.
