Canada has officially designated Yemen's Ansarallah, commonly referred to as the Houthis, as a terrorist entity under its Criminal Code. This decision, announced on Monday by Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, aligns Canada with its allies, including the United States, in countering global security threats posed by the Iran-backed group. The designation imposes strict legal and financial penalties, including the freezing of assets, prohibiting financial or material support, banning Houthi members from entering Canada, and prohibiting terrorist financing. The Houthis, known for their involvement in the Yemen conflict and backed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, have been accused of destabilizing activities and security threats.
