Israel Hits Hezbollah Rocket Launcher and Weapon Routes After Ceasefire Violations
Dec 6, 2024, 06:34 AM
On December 4th and 6th, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted airstrikes and drone strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon and near the Syria-Lebanon border. The strikes targeted a rocket launcher in Majdal Zoun that posed an imminent threat to Israel, violating the ceasefire agreement effective since November 27th. The IDF's 146th Division, including Brigades 300 and 226, destroyed Hezbollah weapons and infrastructure, including missiles and ammunition, in towns such as al-Khiam, as-Sawana, and Aitaroun. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) also struck weapons transfer routes and infrastructure near the Al-Arida and Al-Jouiya border crossings, used by Hezbollah to smuggle arms. The Al-Arida crossing was destroyed for the second time since the ceasefire. The IDF stated that these actions were taken to prevent threats to Israeli civilians and to enforce the ceasefire terms, operating in accordance with understandings between Israel and Lebanon.
