Bobby Bonilla Receives 14th Installment of $1.19M from Mets on Annual 'Bobby Bonilla Day'

Every July 1st, the New York Mets pay former player Bobby Bonilla $1,193,248.20 as part of a deferred payment contract. This arrangement, which began in 2011, will continue until 2035, totaling 25 annual payments. Bonilla, who last played in Major League Baseball in 2001, receives this payment as part of a buyout deal. As of today, the 61-year-old has received 14 installments, amounting to $16,705,474.80. There are 11 installments remaining, totaling $11,932,482. This unique financial arrangement has become an unofficial holiday among Mets fans, often referred to as 'Bobby Bonilla Day.' The Mets have paid him to not play the 2000 season.
