Jewish Student Attacked on Hill Street in Antisemitic Incident at University of Michigan
Sep 16, 2024, 02:07 AM
A 19-year-old Jewish student at the University of Michigan was violently attacked by six men early Sunday morning on Hill Street. The assailants approached the student, asked if he was Jewish, and upon his confirmation, proceeded to throw him to the ground, kick him, and spit on him. The Ann Arbor police have confirmed they are investigating the incident as a bias-motivated assault. University of Michigan Hillel has also confirmed the antisemitic attack in a statement. The Michigan Hillel director sent out a community email about the incident. Anne Arbor Police Chief Andre Anderson stated that there is absolutely no place for hate or ethnic intimidation in the city.
