Sally Buzbee, the first woman to lead The Washington Post's newsroom, has stepped down after three years in the role. Buzbee, who has been executive editor since 2021, announced her departure on Sunday. Matt Murray, the former editor in chief of The Wall Street Journal, will replace her temporarily until the U.S. presidential election. Following the election, Robert Winnett, a veteran of the Telegraph, will take on a new role as Editor. The restructuring comes under the leadership of CEO Will Lewis, who has been in his role since January and has announced plans to launch a new newsroom division focused on service and social media journalism.
