Penske Entertainment Acquires Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, Secures IndyCar Future
Nov 14, 2024, 01:39 PM
Penske Entertainment has acquired the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, LLC, from longtime owner Gerald R. Forsythe. This acquisition includes the prestigious Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, a key event in North American motorsports. Roger Penske, the legendary driver and team owner, expressed pride in becoming the new steward of this iconic event, stating, 'We're incredibly proud to be the new stewards of this cherished and iconic event.' The purchase ensures that the Grand Prix will remain centered around IndyCar, preventing NASCAR or F1 from taking over the event. The Grand Prix, known as the longest-running street race in North America, will celebrate its 50th edition under Penske's ownership. Jim Michaelian, president and CEO of Long Beach, confirmed that the city contract allows only one three-day race event per year, solidifying IndyCar's presence at Long Beach through 2028.
