French Court Closes Covid-19 Management Inquiry Without Indictments Against Philippe, Buzyn, Véran
Dec 30, 2024, 09:20 AM
The French Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR) has concluded its investigation into the government's management of the Covid-19 pandemic without issuing any indictments. The inquiry, which began in July 2020, targeted former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, and former Health Ministers Agnès Buzyn and Olivier Véran. The investigation looked into allegations of endangering the lives of others and failing to combat a disaster, stemming from complaints about the shortage of protective equipment, delays in activating the crisis center, and the decision to maintain municipal elections in May 2020. The three former ministers have been placed under the more favorable status of assisted witness, paving the way for a likely dismissal of the case.
