Supreme Court Declines Michael Cohen's Appeal Against Trump Over Tell-All Book Retaliation
Oct 21, 2024, 02:01 PM
On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear disbarred lawyer Michael Cohen's appeal to revive his civil rights lawsuit against former President Donald Trump and former federal officials. Cohen, Trump's former personal attorney and fixer, alleged that he was returned to prison in 2020 in retaliation for writing a tell-all memoir critical of Trump. The decision leaves in place lower court rulings that dismissed Cohen's claims. The court's refusal effectively shields Trump from the lawsuit, which accused him of violating Cohen's rights by placing him in solitary confinement to prevent him from publishing the book.
