Nearly a Dozen Trump Nominees and Lawmakers Targeted with Bomb Threats and Swatting; FBI Investigates
Nov 29, 2024, 05:45 PM
President-elect Donald Trump's transition team reported that nearly a dozen of his cabinet nominees and appointees have received violent threats, including bomb threats and 'swatting' incidents. Karoline Leavitt, the incoming White House press secretary, stated that the threats have included attacks with firearms and bombs, targeting nominees and their families across multiple states. Some attacks had a pro-Palestinian theme. The FBI has begun investigating the incidents. Meanwhile, Democratic lawmakers, including members of the Connecticut congressional delegation and Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, also reported receiving bomb threats over the Thanksgiving holiday. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries condemned the threats, noting they were signed with 'MAGA', and called for maximum protection for all members and their families. President Joe Biden addressed the threats, indicating that the administration is working closely with the FBI on the matter.
