Final Spark's Neuroplatform: World's First 'Living Computer' Using Human Brain Tissue
Jun 23, 2024, 02:50 AM
Scientists have created the world's first 'living computer' using human brain tissue. This innovative system, developed by Swiss firm Final Spark, is called Neuroplatform and runs on 16 lab-grown brain organoids. These brain organoids consume a million times less power than traditional silicon chips. The development of this technology has been a progressive journey, starting in 2013 when Austrian labs successfully grew the first brain organoids from living stem cells. By 2017, researchers from Harvard and MIT managed to integrate these organoids into computer chips. The Neuroplatform integrates hardware, software, and biology to perform computational tasks efficiently.
