NASCAR Hall of Famer Bobby Allison, Founder of 'Alabama Gang,' Dies at 86
Nov 10, 2024, 12:49 AM
Bobby Allison, a NASCAR Hall of Famer and founder of the 'Alabama Gang,' died on November 9, 2024, at the age of 86 at his home in Mooresville, North Carolina. Allison was a legendary figure in NASCAR, having secured 85 career Cup Series wins, including three Daytona 500 victories, and the 1983 NASCAR Cup Series championship. Recently, NASCAR officially recognized his 85th win, resolving a long-standing dispute over a 1972 victory at Bowman Gray Stadium. Known as the 'ultimate fan's driver,' he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with fans, often stopping to sign autographs and have conversations. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, after several years of declining health but continued to contribute to the sport he loved.
