Genomic Study Reveals Genetic Links to Brain Volumes and Disorders Using AI Algorithm ARC-SV
Oct 24, 2024, 04:37 AM
A recent genomic analysis has revealed significant findings regarding the genetic links to brain volumes and various psychiatric and neurological disorders. The study, which examined over 70,000 individuals, identified polygenic scores that account for variations in intracranial and subcortical brain volumes across different ancestries. Additionally, the research uncovered genetic connections to conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and ADHD. An AI algorithm, ARC-SV, identified over 8,000 complex DNA variants associated with psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, found in brain-related genes. This study is considered the world’s largest genetic study on the size of specific brain parts, providing hundreds of clues about how certain health conditions develop.
